Front Pages of the World
1. I really liked the front page for the Austin-American Statesman because I am kind of biased since I live in Austin, and I like it because it's an Austin newspaper.
2. My favorite headline from the newspapers was the one where they were pointing out that Trump was at his golf course instead of dealing with a crisis. This is good because it's nice to count on a news source to tell me what the president is doing.

C.E. 5.1
1. Next month
2. Sunrise tactical supply
3. Mechanical engineering department, Cockrell school of Engineering
4. Norway, Germany, Canada
5. It is inclusive to a certain group of people.
Long Response:
The company making cell phone sleeves is called Yondr. There are currently 600 American high schools using Yondr. The concept behind the pouches is to lock up phones for a certain amount of time so that people aren't using their phones at parties, school, etc... At San Lorenzo HS, there were a lot of positive results that came from schools using Yondr, including better grades, less discipline issues, and more students interacting. I think the pouches could be useful at school, and maybe at social gatherings or shows so that people aren't distracted while at an event. I wouldn't actually mind that much if Bowie stopped using phones at school because I went without my phone for about a month at one point during the year, and although there were some communication issues, it didn't affect my happiness. I think that people will probably discover that constantly being on their phones cheapens life and will try to limit usage.

C.E. 4.3
1. 10%
2. #blowingthewhistle
3. Homes with solar panels and energy efficient features
4. Sparkling water called "Bubly"
5. iPhone X because I like iPhones and the X has a ton of cool features.
Long Response:
This article is essentially explaining why the World Health Organization is officially labeling video game addiction a disease. The article then goes on to explain the addictive nature of video games, and how kids can limit screen time to reduce the effect it has on young, developing brains. According to the article, you are probably addicted to gaming if you do it in place of other interests and activities, if you experience an inability to quit, or if you continue to game despite having negative consequences. According to the article, an addiction is a habit that you develop that soon starts to control your life, that you can't quit, and you begin to do it very frequently. Honestly, and I might be a little biased here, being a gamer myself, I think that games are fun and are a great way to spend a little bit of time if your bored. I never get addicted because if I game for too long, I start to get bored of it and become restless to get out and move around. I do, of course, play video games, and although I have many games that I like, I think the one that I most enjoy is Player Unknowns Battlegrounds, especially on PC. My little brother, actually, isn't so much addicted to games as he is addicted to screens. He is constantly looking at the computer, and when he isn't looking at a screen, you can tell he is itching to get back online. According to the article, parents should limit their children to 1 or 2 hours a day, and have them go do other things like socialize.

My Favorite Cover
How do you show Vladimir Putin—a deliberate and calculating persecutor of minorities in his own country—as Person of the Year, without having to explain your choice? We approached this several ways, before deciding on the provocative placement of the cover line. It was a statement, and one we felt justified as a reference to the way in which Putin’s transgressions had gone relatively unpunished. The image was not altered in any way (despite some fevered blogs claiming otherwise); we just had the colors match the old propaganda images of the wartime era.
I think this was a really cool cover with an interesting message. One critique I have, although, is the fact that, even though he said the image was not altered at all, it looks like it was. I believe that it wasn't altered and they just tried to change the colors, but maybe make it more obvious next time that the image has not been altered from its original state. One more critique is that I think the portrait is a little under exposed, and it might not be bright enough. That isn't too much of a problem though because I'm pretty sure that the darker face was the designer trying to convey the theme more.
The main reason why I chose this photo as my favorite because of the powerful message. It is obvious that the editors of the magazine don't agree with Vladimir Putin winning Person of The Year, but they still reported it, just using their own dark twist. The background is completely black, and the portrait is of Putin looking serious and kind of sinister. They also brilliantly compared Putin to Adolf Hitler by putting the "person of the year" label on his upper lip, a nod to Hitler's famous mustache.

Magazine tips

2. Make sure the image is appealing
3. Make the cover noticeable to pull in the casual glancer
4. Make it intellectually stimulating

Aperture photos
f2.8
f22
1. The part of the body that relates the closest to the aperture is the eyes because just like the aperture of a camera, the eyes let light in and get bigger in the dark to capture more light, just like you can do with an aperture.
2. The darker the picture, the lighter the picture
3. If you use a larger aperture, you focus on one thing in the middle of your view, and everything else is very blurry the further out from the focal point.(This is good for portraits) If you use a smaller aperture, everything in the picture is in focus and sharp. (Good for landscape pictures)
Fast shutter speed
Slow shutter speed
1. I think I would shoot at a relatively fast shutter speed in all of those situations because I don't need to increase the brightness because it's already relatively bright during the day, and it would be really cool to get a picture of a silver star frozen in midair during a leap.
2. I think in this situation I would still shoot at a fast shutter speed because I can just use other settings to increase the brightness, but I think doing some slow shutter speed photos of students streaming through the door at night would be cool.
3. In "Auto" mode, the camera automatically selects shutter speed for you, there is "shutter priority" mode, where you choose the shutter speed, and the camera automatically sets everything else. In manual mode, you have to take care of all the settings, meaning aperture and shutter speed.
ISO 200
ISO 6400
1. Shooting at a higher ISO gives you more light and allows you to "freeze" images, this is good for a night football game because there isn't that much light at night, so you can get brighter photographs, and you can get really cool shots of players frozen, or a ball flying through the air without motion blur.
2. The author suggested that you use a low ISO most of the time because it provides higher quality photos.
3. The author suggested that you only use a higher ISO if you are in a low-light area and want to increase the brightness of an image, or if you want to get the "freeze" effect.
Aperture goes from 2.8 to 22
Shutter speed goes from 1 to 1/4000
ISO 100 to 25600
