Movie Review preview
1.The main characters I expect to see in this movie are Captain Philips, the Somali pirate captain, and the crews of the pirate ships and the Maersk ship.
2. I expect the plot to stick very closely to the actual events, so it will probably have the Maersk supply ship heading for somewhere in Africa, but be intercepted by pirates. I think it will then show the struggle of the crew and captain Philips to stay alive and trick the pirates into getting off the ship. At some point, the crew will probably capture the Somalian captain, just like in real events, and attempt to exchange captain Philips for the pirate captain, but will be tricked by the pirates into giving the pirate captain back without exchanging captain Philips.
3. This story was important because it highlighted the brave actions of the crew and Captain Philips in their attempts to combat the pirates.
4. The pirates try to take the ship because the ship has lots of valuable materials and has a lot of money that the pirates can bring to their boss.
1. Tom Hanks, Barkhad Abdi, Faysal Ahmed, Catherine Keener, Michael Chernus.
2. PG-13
3. Paul Greengrass
4. Michael de Luca, Scott Rudin, Dana Brunetti
5. BAFTA award for best actor in a supporting role, Writers of America award for best adapted screenplay.
6. 55 million dollars

C.E. #6.1
1. 1400
2. A weakening of metal from repeated use
3. 5,000 dollar pay raise for teachers, Higher contributions to teachers health insurance, 5,000 dollar scholarship for high school students, 5,000 dollar bonus for new teachers.
4. He played all 9 positions in a baseball game
5. I would wanna do the city theater's "as you like it" because it would be cool to watch a play.
Long response:
Only about 52% of high school students directly enrolled into college in 2016. It is expected that with the new plan, that number should shoot up to 60% by 2030. According to the article, students who don't directly enroll in college are far less likely to earn a degree than those who enroll directly from high school. The article cited that there were 70% in Massachusetts and 60% in California. Senator Paredes hopes to push the 60x30TX plan, which states that the goal is to get 60% of students enrolling in college by 2030. I definitely think college is important and it is a key ingredient in making you more educated and able to succeed in life. Yes, I plan to directly enroll into college. I think that the push to get more students into college is effecting some of the poorer areas because they are getting motivated to go to college. I think it is possible to have a comfortable life without a college degree, but it's a lot harder to get a comfortable life without a college degree. Workforce certifications are equally as important in society. Yes, but I think many jobs that don't require a college degree aren't as good.

Captain Philips review
Captain Phillips really rocked the boat
Captain Phillips tells the true story of the hijacking of a Maersk cargo ship by Somali pirates, and the crew's struggle to survive and save their Captain, Richard Phillips(Tom Hanks), who was held hostage by the pirates. The movie tells this story from two perspectives, mostly centering around the two captains, Phillips, and Abduwali Muse(Barkhad Abdi), the captain of the Somali pirates. At the beginning of the movie, the cargo ship embarks on a journey across the Indian ocean, headed for Africa. After going too close to the Somalian coastline, the ship is picked up by pirates, who track down the ship and board it, despite the crews' many attempts to deter the pirates. After boarding, the pirates capture Captain Phillips, who misleads them in their search to find the rest of the crew. The crew, lead by Phillips' second in command Shane Murphy(Michael Chernus), and John Cronan(Chris Mulkey), set traps such as putting glass on the floor, and evade capture by the pirates with their knowledge of the ship. The crew even injures Hufan(Isaak Farah Samatar), one of the pirates, who stepped on the glass barefoot. The crew manage to capture the Somali captain, Abduwali Muse, and hold him hostage in exchange for Captain Phillips. The Somali pirates trick the crew, however, and make off with Muse and Phillips in a small lifeboat. The lifeboat is tracked down by the U.S. Coast Guard, who employ Navy Seal snipers to take out the pirates. A possible theme of this movie is to "never give up" because despite overwhelming odds, Captain Phillips held out hope and ended up being rescued when it looked like he wasn't going to survive. I think the audience demographic of this movie would probably be somewhere in between the 15-50 year old range. The reason the range is so large is because this movie really has elements that every age demographic can enjoy. In my opinion, Captain Phillips is a great movie. The tension is palpable throughout, and really keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. The plot is even cooler when you consider the fact that this movie is based off of real events, and the ensemble effort of the cast was great because you could see the chemistry between Hanks and Abdi, and you could see their similarities as leaders, and this allowed you to sympathize with and understand both sides of the story. I give Captain Phillips an 8/10 for being a really great engaging movie.

3. The main point of the article is basically informing you about the Longhorns football team's defensive coordinator, B.J. Payne going to the NFL combine to watch one of his most promising players, Poona Ford, perform for NFL scouts. It also includes Poona's extraordinary stats about his performance in the combine.
4. Defensive tackle

6. This was kind of a feature on Poona Ford because it was mostly focused on that athletes achievements and abilities.
7. This article handles rankings because it talks about how well Poona Ford did and how he ranked up to other college athletes in the NFL combine.

6.
Three pointer- A shot taken behind the three point line (a half circle around the basket)
Layup-A shot taken at a very close range, where the player just jumps up and tosses the ball in the basket using one hand.
Crossing up- When you dribble the ball from one hand to the other and make the person defending you think you're going one way, but you go the other way and fake them out.
7. One basketball cliche is "They shoot well from downtown." A more understandable non-cliche version of this saying could be: They make a lot of shots from far away."
8. An athlete who is a legend for setting records in my sport is Lebron James. Lebron James was born in Akron, Ohio. Lebron went to St. Vincent-St. Mary high school. Lebron played for the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Miami Heat. Some records he's broken are, youngest player to reach 24,000 points, and the most assists in Cav's history.

Long Response:
I think guns should be controlled more strictly because obviously there is a problem if an 18 year old boy, with a history of mental health issues, is able to buy an AR-15. I think many people in Austin would support more gun control because Austin is a very liberal city. I think the AR-15 should be banned because of the high-capacity magazine. You shouldn't be able to own a weapon that can fire off 30 shots repeatedly without stopping to reload. I've heard both sides of the argument when talking to people, but my family and I are all firm believers in stricter gun control. I would actively participate in trying to make schools safer because that is the thing that is most relevant to me.
